Why carpet?

Hypoallergenic

  • N
Our carpet fibers catch and trap allergens, dust, and dander, improving air quality and making your family less likely to be exposed to these irritants if regularly cleaned with a deep suction vacuum cleaner.

World-class stain resistance

  • N
The carpet industry has adapted exceptionally well to meet customer needs for durability and stain resistance. Our nylon and polyester carpets won’t leave you googling “how to clean vomit stains out of carpet” at 2 a.m., because each fiber repels stains from every direction, not just on the surface. You can further upgrade your flooring solutions with a spill-proof carpet backing.

CARPET 101

The world of carpet—full of pile styles and categories like “saxony”—can be confusing to infrequent visitors. Check out our carpet guide to learn everything you need to know before buying carpet.

INSTALLATION

Carpet installation is a fairly straightforward process. Carpet does require subfloor preparation to be long-lasting, but its installation is usually quicker and cheaper than hardwood, vinyl, or tile. If installed well and cared for properly, carpet can last for 10-15 years.

SOUND AND FEEL

Carpet is unmatched when it comes to creating a quiet, comfortable environment. It absorbs sound and is quiet and soft underfoot. Cut pile feels plush and luxurious, while loop piles feel firm and supportive.

PETS & KIDS

Most carpet owners have been taught to fear spills and stains, but modern manufacturers have adapted for households with pets and kids by creating built-in stain resistance systems. Some even offer spill proof backings to keep the carpet pad from absorbing liquids.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMPATIBILITY

Many of our carpets are made from recycled or low-VOC materials. Carpet can act as an insulator, reducing heating and cooling costs, and can even be hypoallergenic if regularly cleaned.

DURABILITY

The durability of your carpet depends on its type, pile height, and twist level. Tightly twisted pile better resists matting and crushing than styles with a looser twist. Loop styles along with level-cut-loop styles offer the best wear resistance and are ideal for hallways and stairs.

Cut Pile

Cut pile is the most popular type of carpet. Its yarn fibers are cut, rather than looped, and twisted together, with several fibers forming each strand. The tighter and thicker the twist, the more durable the carpet will be, and less prone to matting and crushing.

Level-Cut-Loop

Level Cut Loop pile is a combination of both cut yarn and continuous looped strands. It is often used to create patterns such as swirls or squares. A great option if you are looking for a plush yet durable carpet.

Loop Pile

Loop pile is made of continuous looped strands, often of various heights that add extra pattern, texture, and durability to the carpet. The tighter the twist, the greater its resistance to crushing.

CARPET CARE

PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE

Placing rugs (that you can clean regularly) at entrances will help catch the dirt and moisture people track in on their shoes. Rearranging furniture every once in a while can even out wear, though use caution when dragging heavy objects across your carpet!

DAILY CARE

Clean your carpet regularly with a manufacturer-approved vacuum. Carpet in low- to medium-traffic areas should be vacuumed once or twice a week, but carpet in high-traffic areas benefits most from a quick daily vacuum.

SPILLS AND STAINS

Most carpets are stain resistant, but not stain proof, so don’t let a spill soak into the fibers. Using a clean cloth soaked in warm water and gentle detergent, blot (don’t rub!) the dirty area until the stain is gone, and dry with a separate cloth. Don’t leave the carpet soaking wet, only use manufacturer-approved cleaning products, and never ever bleach your carpet.
